ARALIK 2015

NEWSLETTER OF ASSOCIATION SUISSE TURQUIE

DECEMBER 2015

In this second edition we wanted to talk about our shared winter pleasure, roasted chestnuts. Their perfume fills our nostrils from streets away and they warm our hands on the cold days.  We are all children again when we savour the taste. In Istanbul, they are often sold near the entrance of the “Vapur” and give us the courage to sit outside as we rediscover that misty beauty of the city from Karaköy to Kadıköy. In Geneva, they add to the charm of a promenade in the Vieille Ville.

Enjoy this year’s “course de l’Escalade” on the 5th and “Cortège Historique” on the 13th of December with your own bag of chestnuts!

We also wish you a Happy Hanukkah, Merry Christmas and a Wonderful New Year!!

Our member André Kaplun’s new book investigates one of the marvels of the ancient world: the Colossus of Rhodes. Did it ever really exist? If so, how was it built, and how did it disappear?
